Mounties say they recovered four stolen Tesla chargers and a large cache of stolen tools after executing a search warrant last month in Richmond, B.C.

A statement from the local RCMP detachment on Monday says a Tesla charging cable was reported stolen from an open garage in the 10400 block of No. 3 Road on Feb. 17.

A suspect in the theft was identified and police executed a search warrant at a residence in the 9400 block of Greenfield Drive on March 4.

During the search, investigators uncovered the electric-vehicle chargers, several tools and packages that were addressed to other residences, according to the statement.

“We highly recommend keeping an up-to-date record of serial numbers for any items you own,” said Cpl. Ryan Lee of the Richmond RCMP property crime unit.

“Having a serial number allows police to easily identify and return recovered stolen goods to their rightful owner.”

Police recommend adding identifiable marks and contact information to items that do not have serial numbers.

The suspect was arrested and released on a police undertaking.

Anyone with information related to the thefts is asked to call the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
