Police in Kelowna, B.C., say officers seized three kilograms of cocaine and thousands of dollars in cash during a drug-trafficking investigation earlier this month.
A statement from the Kelowna RCMP detachment says officers were conducting surveillance in the 1200 block of St. Paul Street on April 11 when they stopped a suspicious vehicle.
“The sole occupant of the vehicle was subsequently arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking,” the detachment said in the statement Monday.
Investigators seized more than $8,600 in various currencies from the vehicle, as well as “suspected illegal substances,” according to police.
Mounties obtained a warrant to search a home associated with the driver in the 550 block of Coronation Avenue, where investigators discovered three kilograms of cocaine and $14,000 in cash, according to the statement.
The Kelowna RCMP detachment is “dedicated to the safety of the public and targeting the local drug traffickers,” Cpl. Guillaume Tanguay wrote in the statement. “Our teams will continue to hold those responsible who negatively impact our community.”
