Mounties in B.C.’s Okanagan are appealing for witnesses and information after a fatal collision on Highway 97.
Officers were called to the scene, between Pelmewash Parkway and Wall Road around 10:30 p.m. Sunday for reports a driver had struck a pedestrian, according to the Lake Country RCMP.
“The driver of the vehicle remained on scene while the pedestrian was taken to Kelowna General Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries,” a statement from police said.
The highway was closed while investigators were on scene but has since reopened.
No information was provided about the suspected cause of the crash and authorities did not provide a description of the vehicle.
