Mounties on Vancouver Island have released a photo of a man they allege “purchased thousands of dollars worth of merchandise” using stolen credit card information.
West Shore RCMP say the suspect posed as an employee from the victim’s bank and fraudulently obtained the credit card information over the phone.
The fraud occurred in December 2024, but the detachment released the suspect photo Friday.
Police described the suspect as a man in his 20s with a “medium complexion,” a thin moustache and a goatee. He was wearing a black baseball cap with three white stars on it, a black vest, a black hoodie, and black track pants with two vertical stripes down the legs. He also had two diamond studded earrings in his right ear.
“Police have followed up on many leads in this investigation but have not been able to identify this suspect,” the West Shore RCMP release reads.
The detachment is asking anyone who knows who the suspect could be or has any information regarding the fraud to call it at 250-474-2264. Tips can also be shared anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
