Salesman fired after being caught on camera urinating on B.C. family’s car

Published:

When a B.C. family on vacation received a security alert that someone was at their door, they thought it could be a break in.

As Stephen Slous watched the real-time video captured by his home security camera he thought he was about to witness someone breaking into his car in broad daylight.

What he witnessed was much more shocking.

“He urinated on my vehicle and casually walked away,” Slous told CTV News.

Slous and his family were hundreds of kimometres away from their home in Salmon Arm, enjoying a vacation when a notification alerted them that someone was at the door.

In the video, which was provided to CTV News, the man – dressed in a Rogers uniform – rings the bell and then waits around for about 30 seconds before leaving. But he doesn’t leave the property, instead he heads for the carport.

Slous said it took him a moment to come to terms with what he actually saw next.

“I was shocked at first because I thought he was going to try to enter the vehicle. That quickly turned to disgust and anger – ruining the last evening of our trip on Vancouver Island,” he said.

“I just couldn’t believe someone would think that was an appropriate place to relieve themself. I was also very annoyed because my three kids like to ride their bikes in there when I pull the vehicles out.”

The video shows urine splashing off one of the vehicle’s tires and puddling on the driveway.

Rogers told CTV News the man was not directly employed by the company.

“As soon as we became aware of this incident involving a third-party contractor, we took steps to address the situation,” a spokesperson said in an email.

“The individual is no longer employed by the vendor, and we’ve reached out to the impacted homeowner to apologize for this incident.”

Slous said Rogers has offered to pay to have his vehicle and carport pressure washed.
