An incident that prompted a shelter in place advisory in a rural area of Langley Tuesday afternoon ended with one person being taken into custody, according to authorities.
Officers were called to check on the well-being of a person at a home on the 440 block of 236 Street around 3 p.m.
“As officers began heading to the area, Langley RCMP received multiple 911 calls were where it was reported that sounds of gunfire were being heard from the same area,” Langley RCMP said in a media release.
The emergency response team and a canine unit were called in to assist local officer, and one person was apprehended.
“There is no on-going threat to the public,” spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said in the statement.
“The shelter-in-place advisory has been lifted and no individuals were injured in this incident. The Langley RCMP will remain in the area to continue the investigation.”
No further information was provided, including whether the person who was taken into custody will be facing any criminal charges.
