Sex offender living in Vancouver poses ‘significant risk’: police

Police issued a warning after a man convicted of multiple sexual assaults was released to a Vancouver halfway house.

A man convicted of sexually assaulting multiple women has been released to a Vancouver halfway house, according to authorities, who issued a warning Thursday.

Hayden McCorriston, 30, recently obtained statutory release after serving two-thirds of his sentence, the Vancouver Police Department said in a statement.

“Vancouver police believe McCorriston poses significant risk of harm to the community and is a high risk to commit further physical and sexual violence,” the VPD said.

Police advised the public that McCorriston is bound by a number of conditions and urged anyone who witnesses him breaching those conditions to report it immediately.

The conditions are, according to the VPD:

  • Not to consume drugs;
  • Not to consume alcohol;
  • Obey a curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.;
  • Not to enter a licensed establishment;
  • Report all intimate sexual and non-sexual relationships and friendships with females to his parole supervisor.

In 2023, McCorriston was sentenced to three years and two months in prison after pleading guilty to five counts of sexual assault, two counts of assault, one count of assault by choking, one count of committing an indecent act, and one count of robbery.
