Stranger assaulted 2 elderly pedestrians in White Rock, RCMP say

Mounties in White Rock are asking the public for help identifying a man they say assaulted two elderly people in the city last month.

The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. on April 11, near the intersection of North Bluff Road and Johnston Street, White Rock RCMP said in a news release Thursday.

“An unknown male exited his grey-coloured SUV and assaulted two elderly pedestrians who were in a marked crosswalk,” the statement reads, adding that one of the victims was taken to hospital with “lacerations on their head.”

The suspect fled the scene in his vehicle before police arrived.

Mounties shared two photos of the suspect and his vehicle, describing him as a white man with a “heavy build” who was wearing a light-coloured shirt and grey pants. He stands 5′10″ tall and is 45 to 50 years old, police said.

White Rock RCMP asked anyone who witnessed the assault or can identify the man involved to contact the file’s lead investigator, Const. Laura Smith, at 778-545-4800.
