Suspect arrested after stabbing at Surrey home

Published:

Police are investigating a stabbing at a Surrey, B.C., home Thursday evening.

Police arrested one suspect following an incident at a Surrey, B.C., home that sent two people to hospital Thursday evening.

The Surrey Police Service said officers were called to a property in the South Westminster neighbourhood around 8:30 p.m., and arrived to find one person stabbed and another suffering from blunt-force trauma.

“Members immediately rendered medical assistance to the injured parties,” the SPS said, in a news release.

Officers also took a suspect into custody at the scene.

B.C. Emergency Health Services told CTV News paramedics later took both victims to hospital, one in serious condition and the other in stable condition.

There was a large police presence after the incident in the area of 116 Street and 99 Avenue, which was temporarily closed off while authorities gathered evidence.

Few other details have been confirmed.

“While it is too early to determine the motive of the stabbing, it does not appear at this time to be a random incident,” the SPS said.
