Suspect at large after gunpoint robberies in Abbotsford, B.C.

Major crime detectives in Abbotsford, B.C., are investigating a pair of recent armed robberies they believe are connected.

Both incidents involved a lone male suspect who reportedly produced a firearm before demanding jewelry from the victims.

The first gunpoint robbery was reported at around 2:40 p.m. on April 14, near the intersection of Maclure Road and Trethewey Street.

The second incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on April 30, along the Discovery Trail near Abbotsford Exhibition Park, the Abbotsford Police Department said in a statement Thursday.

The suspect in both robberies is described as a South Asian male, between 17 and 20 years old, standing approximately 5’ 9” tall with a slim build.

Police said the victims in both cases were shaken but not physically injured.

The Abbotsford Police Department’s major crime unit is now leading the investigation into both incidents, with additional police resources being deployed to assist in the probe.
