Two men were arrested and remain in police custody Tuesday after an armed home invasion in northern British Columbia.

Mounties were called to a rural property approximately 10 kilometres south of Quesnel at 1:28 p.m. Sunday after two men with handguns reportedly entered a home on West Fraser Road and assaulted the occupant.

One of the guns was fired inside the home but the bullet did not strike the victim, who suffered only minor injuries from the assault, the Quesnel RCMP said in a news release.

“The parties involved in this incident were known to each other,” Sgt. Clay Kronebusch said in the release.

Eric Joseph Heidemann, 35, and Jerry Douglas Clement, 58, were arrested and charged with multiple offences, police said.

Court records show both men are facing charges of assault, unlawful confinement, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats.

The suspects are scheduled to appear in a Quesnel court Thursday.
