One day after police issued a warning about a high-risk sex offender moving into a Vancouver halfway house, a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for his arrest.
The Vancouver Police Department said Hayden McCorriston was last seen leaving his halfway house on Homer Street at 10:25 a.m. Friday.
“We believe he has violated the conditions of his release and has taken steps to avoid being found,” Sgt. Steve Addison told CTV News, in an email.
The 30-year-old was wearing a blue surgical mask, black hat, black long-sleeved shirt, dark pants, and black shoes with white soles.
Police urged anyone who sees him to call 911 immediately.
McCorriston was convicted of sexually assaulting multiple women in December 2022. He was recently given statutory release after serving two thirds of his 38-month sentence.
On Thursday, authorities warned that McCorriston is considered “a high risk to commit further physical and sexual violence.”
He’s described as an Indigenous man, about 5’11” tall, with a slim build and shaved head.
