BC Highway Patrol are investigating after a box truck struck an overpass on a part of Highway 1 in Langley, B.C.

The BC Highway Patrol is seeking witnesses and dash cam video after a box truck hit an overpass on Highway 1 in Langley Wednesday morning.

Police received a report a truck had struck a section of the CP Rail overpass on the westbound lane of the highway just after 232 Street, shortly before 8 a.m., BC Highway Patrol said in a statement.

The driver was not found at the scene of the crash but has since been identified and has spoken with police, the statement said.

“Police would like to remind drivers that they have a legal obligation to stop for any collision that might have caused damage,” said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin.

“Both police and Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement officers are following up with the driver and owner of the commercial vehicle to determine appropriate enforcement.”

McLaughlin said the damage to the overpass appears to be minor, and is difficult to distinguish from the damage of previous strikes that have occurred in the same area.

Anyone who may have witnessed the event or who may have relevant dash cam video is asked to contact the BC Highway Patrol Langley at 604-539-2729.

Highway 1 traffic has not been affected, police said.
