Woman killed by falling tree in B.C.’s Fraser Valley, police say

A woman was killed by a falling tree in B.C.’s Fraser Valley on Monday, as strong winds were blowing through the region.

The woman was with two children at Island 22 Regional Park in Chilliwack when the tree came down on her, according to the RCMP’s Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment.

Victim services were called to attend to the children, Sgt. Alexandra Greenley said.

Authorities are expected to provide more details on the incident Tuesday, once investigators “have had a chance to positively identify (the deceased) and conduct the next of kin notification,” Greenley told CTV News in an email.
