A shooting at a vehicle in Surrey’s city centre overnight was targeted, but not extortion-related, police believe. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Central Avenue and 133 Street, according to a news release from the Surrey Police Service. The SPS said officers responded to the scene and located “gunfire damage to a parked and unoccupied vehicle.” “The investigation is in its early stages and the motive for the shots fired is unknown, but it is believed to be targeted and not extortion related,” the release reads. The department’s major crime section is investigating, and front-line officers were expected to be in the area Tuesday canvassing for “physical and digital evidence,” police said.
