Harbour Air flights back on schedule after attempted float plane theft

Police look for man who stole, crashed float plane Vancouver police are searching for a man who they say stole a float plane then crashed it into two other aircraft early Friday morning.

Victoria — Seaplane operator Harbour Air says all flights between Vancouver Island and the mainland are now running on schedule after an attempted float plane theft in Vancouver early Friday morning.

A man allegedly stole a Seair float plane and crashed it into two Harbour Air planes in Vancouver's Coal Harbour, damaging the crafts.

Harbour Air says the company re-routed its early flights to avoid the area.

Flights scheduled to leave Vancouver for Nanaimo and Victoria between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. were delayed.

We are aware of an attempted theft of a Seair aircraft at the Coal Harbour terminal this morning. During this incident, two Harbour Air aircraft were damaged. The safety and security of our passengers is our priority. Early flights were re-routed, all flights are now operating.

Vancouver police are now searching for the man they say ran from the scene.

Vancouver Police Department spokesperson Tania Visintin told CTV News Vancouver that the call for the incident came in around 3:30 a.m.

"We are currently working with the police to provide any support required during this investigation as the safety and security of passengers is our priority," Harbour Air spokesperson Samantha Kent said in a statement to CTV News.

"Until the investigation is complete, we will not be speculating on details."
