10-year-old suffers life-threatening injuries in Highway 401 crash near Lakeshore

A child has life-threatening injuries following a crash that closed a section of Highway 401 Sunday night.

Around 6:54 p.m., OPP and Windsor Essex EMS attended the two-vehicle crash near County Road 27 in Lakeshore.

According to police, both drivers and two child passengers were transported to Windsor Regional Hospital.

An eight-year-old child and both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries while a 10-year-old youth passenger suffered life-threatening injuries.

A 32-year-old from Windsor was arrested and charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and dangerous operation causing bodily harm.

The accused has a 90-day license suspension and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
