The Windsor police made a big drug bust, seizing $65,000 in illegal drugs and a gun.
Earlier in the year, the WPS began an investigation into a 27-year-old man, who police said was suspected of trafficking drugs.
On Wednesday, the man was found and arrested in the 9200 block of Tecumseh Road East. Police then seized $4,150 in cash and 23.7 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
Another suspect, a woman, was also arrested.
The WPS then executed a search warrant at a home in the 2300 block of Norman Road. Police seized 521 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 374.9 grams of cocaine, and 110.6 grams of what police said was an “unknown white powder”.
Alongside the quantity of drugs, officers said they seized $18,470 in cash, a handgun, an extended magazine, numerous shotgun shells, four digital scales, a money counter, two cell phones, a debt list, and packaging materials.
The value of drugs seized was $65,000.
A 27-year-old man has been charged with:
- Two counts of possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – crystal methamphetamine
- Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of a restricted firearm without holding a license
- Possession of a prohibited device, knowingly no authority
- Three counts of possession of a firearm/device/ammunition while prohibited
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
- Possession of proceeds of crime exceeding $5,000
- Failure to comply with a probation order
A 35-year-old woman is also facing charges:
- Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – crystal methamphetamine
- Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of a restricted firearm without holding a license
- Unlicensed possession of a prohibited device
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
- Possession of proceeds of crime exceeding $5,000
