LaSalle police officers are stepping up enforcement of off-road vehicles driving in illegal locations, such as public roads and trails.

As the weather’s gotten nicer, police say there’s been an increase in reports of dirt bikes being used on public trails throughout the parks.

Officers are reminding residents about the use of dirt bikes, ATVs, and other off-road vehicles on roads, and public property, including the park trails.

These types of vehicles are prohibited to be operated within the town other than on private property (with permission). Police say most property in the Town of LaSalle is privately owned. This includes farm fields.

Anyone operating their dirt bike or ATV may face possible charges under the Highway Traffic Act, the Off-Road Vehicles Act, or the Trespass to Property Act (if on private property without permission).

The town has posted important information regarding ATVS and ORVs on its website.
