Catholic Central gets sports field

After almost 40 years, Catholic Central High School has its own sports field

It took almost 40 years, but Catholic Central High School finally has their own sports field.

A blessing ceremony was held at the new school on McDougall Thursday to celebrate the official opening of the field.

The field was installed last year but school officials were asked to forego playing on it to allow the grass to settle properly.

Both the senior boys and girls soccer teams played their first games on the field Thursday against Brennan.

“I think it’s going to be [a] good day. Last year we got to practice in a tiny bit, so, yeah, hopefully we can beat them,” said Grade 12 student Andres Munar.

“I think it’s important to make sure it was set and ready to go so we can have a beautiful day like today to run our first home game ever at Catholic Central High School. We’re very thankful to have this for our student athletes,” said Athletic Director Jalil Khoury.
