A Windsor-Tecumseh-Lakeshore candidate is upset she was excluded from a recent debate.
Beth St. Denis said she was not invited to participate in the chamber debate, and when she asked for a reconsideration, said she was told by chamber officials, her party, the Christian Heritage Party, doesn’t qualify because they don’t have candidates in 75 per cent of the ridings across Canada.
“My party’s been established since 1987, so it’s not like we’re a brand-new party. We’ve been around for decades. There is not a Christian heritage party candidate in my riding before. And the fact that I can’t even debate on a local scale, it’s extremely disheartening,” said St. Denis.
At a time when some parties are avoiding debates, St Denis believes the spots could have been filled with other interested candidates to make for a more robust debate.
