Erie Shores HealthCare partners with CMHA

Erie Shores Health Centre has partnered up with CMHA, offering more mental health support for patients.

Erie Shores HealthCare (ESHC) has partnered with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) to offer mental health supports for patients after their stay.

The hospital announced on Thursday that they are now working directly with the association, fast-tracking patients into community-based programs.

“We all know mental health after the pandemic is at a rise, not only with our teenagers and with our elderly population, and even our working class,” said Rashoo Brar, vice president of clinical service with ESHC.

“It’s affecting a significant portion of the population and some of these conditions are undiagnosed. So, we want to improve the patient care, providing a patient centric approach.”

Staff will set up referrals right from the emergency room or inpatient units, which will connect patients with counselling, case management, and other support services in Leamington. The goal is to improve recovery and keep patients from returning to the hospital.
