‘Fresh Meat’, a locally produced horror flick is ready for the big screen this coming Saturday. It follows a group of thrill-seeking social media influencers who break into the abandoned prison only to find its not empty; they find themselves hunted by a cannibalistic inmate. “The doors open at six and you don’t want to miss that because its going to be an immersive red-carpet experience,” filmmaker Daniel Turres said. “We’re bringing that international film festival feel to the small town of Chatham, in the beautiful, Capital Theatre.” Work started on the film two years ago to be ready to shoot for 28 straight days at the jail in 2024, according to Turres. “A lot of the community here was a big part of the film, both from businesses and local talent. So, we wanted to give a big thanks.” Tickets are $25. Festival bound Turres and his production company, Pageman Productions, also recently learned the film has been accepted into the Blood in the Snow film festival in Toronto. “Blood in the Snow is probably one of the biggest horror genre film festivals out there,” Turres said. “It really does cater to horror fanatics from (across) Canada.” “Fresh Meat” will be screened on Nov. 20.
