Gordie Howe International Bridge tests deck edge lights

Crews are testing something new on the Gordie Howe International Bridge.

The bridge workers began focusing on the deck edge, or linear, lighting on Thursday night as part of the ongoing testing and commissioning of the bridge’s aesthetic lighting.

All lights on the bridge were turned off, and the edge lighting was turned on and off – one bulb at a time – drawing the focus away from the stay cables and onto the bridge, according to a social media post on Friday.

Bridge officials say this will be visible for the next little while and supports the next step in preparing the bridge for its final illuminated form.
