Inspiring a love of reading

A Read-A-Thon at a local school was looking to instill a love for books and reading in its students.

A local elementary school was looking to inspire a love of reading for its students Friday.

St. William Catholic Elementary School in Emeryville held a read-a-thon. Community members were invited, offering their time, resources, and donations for the school.

“Read with your kids at home? Communicate with your elementary teachers,” said Bob Flanagan, the school’s principal.

“Talk with them about what the needs are for your child, with our teachers. Our teachers do the same. But reading nightly with your kids is always a wonderful thing, and there are many opportunities to do that, especially with the way digital technology is these days.”

CTV Windsor’s Stefanie Masotti and Gary Archibald were also on scene, taking part in the reading action.
