Managing an invasive species along the Ganatchio Trail

The City of Windsor has hired a contractor to deal with a noxious and poisonous weed known as ‘wild parsnip.’

The City of Windsor has hired a contractor to deal with a noxious and poisonous weed known as ‘wild parsnip.’

The invasive species is of particular concern along the Ganatchio Trail.

Weather permitting, a herbicide will be sprayed on the weed from April 30 to May 23.

Wild parsnip is considered one of the most invasive plants in Ontario.

Growing up to 1.5-metres tall in a wide range of environments, crowding out native plants.

Its sap can cause severe burns.
