Lisa Gretzky has secured another term as the Member of Provincial Parliament for Windsor West, keeping the riding in New Democratic Party hands.
Gretzky, who has represented the riding since 2014, defeated Progressive Conservative candidate Tony Francis in a race closely watched by both parties.
“I’m going to continue to do what I’ve always done for the residents of Windsor West. And that’s going to be taking their voice to Queen’s Park,” said Gretzky. “What we saw with the conservative candidate here is he was bringing forward Doug Ford’s voice, not that of the residents of Windsor West. I’m going to continue to do what I’ve always done, which is listen to the residents of Windsor West. Fight for the things that matter to them and to stand up to Doug Ford rather than doing what Doug Ford tells me to do.”
She campaigned on a platform emphasizing healthcare improvements, workers’ rights, and housing affordability.
She also highlighted concerns about potential U.S. tariffs and their impact on Windsor’s economy, as well as strengthening public healthcare and education.
Gretzky has previously served as the opposition critic for mental health, poverty, and homelessness, and has been vocal about the need for stronger public services in the region.
Her campaign focused on keeping healthcare public, advocating for affordable housing initiatives, and ensuring protections for workers in Windsor’s manufacturing and auto sectors.
She also pushed for increased provincial funding for local infrastructure projects and education.
Advanced voter turnout in Windsor West was low, with only 3.4 per cent of eligible voters casting their ballots early.
This trend was reflected across the province, with Elections Ontario reporting a decline in early voting participation compared to the previous election.
With her re-election, Gretzky continues the NDP’s representation of Windsor West, a riding she first won in 2014 after it had been held by the Liberals for nearly 15 years.
