Nine sites added to growing list of measles exposures: WECHU, CKPH

The Windsor-Essex Public Health Unit (WECHU) and Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit have reported additional cases of measles exposure - the latest in a series of exposures reported in the region.

New locations in Windsor-Essex are as follows:

• Old Colony Christian Academy Kingsville (1521 Road 4 West, Kingsville)
• Fresh Co Leamington (250 Erie St S., Leamington)
• Erie Shores Health Care Emergency Room (194 Talbot St W., Leamington)

New locations in Chatham-Kent are as follows:

• Ebenezer Christian School - Ballhawks Practice (485 McNaughton Ave., E Chatham)
• St. Angela Merici Catholic School – After School (801 McNaughton Ave., W Chatham)
• Chatham Christian School – Badminton Practice (475 Keil Dr., S Chatham)
• YMCA Chatham (101 Courthouse Ln., Chatham)
• Municipality of Chatham-Kent Tilbury Municipal Office (17 Superior St., Tilbury)
• ONroute Tilbury – 401 Westbound

Currently, WECHU has nine reported incidents of measles exposure in March, and CKPH has reported 20. The most up to date list of exposure sites can be found on the CKPH and WECHU websites.

In general those born before 1970 are considered immune to measles, those born after 1970 should confirm that their vaccines are up to date, with two doses of measles vaccine.

Anyone that believes they are unvaccinated or under vaccinated should speak to their health care provider.
