Police seize over $31,000 in drugs and contraband on Walpole Island First Nation

A search warrant executed on Walpole Island First Nation has resulted in multiple charges for a resident, and over $31,000 in drugs, firearms and other items were seized.

According to police, on March 5, just after 11:15 a.m., OPP, canine unit, and Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad team members alongside Walpole Island Police Service took a 58-year-old into custody following a search at an address on Blackbird Lane.

Police seized suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, firearms, and other related items.

The suspect faces several charges including unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, possession of an opioid, and possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine).

The accused was held pending a bail hearing, and has since been remanded into custody.
