What to expect as a winter storm heads towards Windsor-Essex

A winter storm is expected in Windsor-Essex Wednesday into Thursday this week. CTV Windsor Meteorologist Gary Archibald provides a midday update.

A winter storm is headed Windsor-Essex’s way, expected to hit on Wednesday, as a Special Weather Statement is in effect.

“There’s still some uncertainty in terms of the track, but this winter storm will impact us as we head towards Wednesday afternoon, early in the evening, with snow, and then mixing over as we transition towards Thursday morning,” said CTV Windsor Meteorologist Gary Archibald.

Tuesday is seeing sunnier weather with a light dusting of snow on the ground. Archibald added the storm could produce significant amounts of snow and ice.

The Special Weather Statement warns of snow, freezing rain, and rain.

Here’s the rest of your forecast:

Tuesday: A mix of sun and cloud. Wind up to 15 km/h, high -2 C. The wind chill will near -9 C.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy. Wind northeast 20 km/h. Low -8 C with a wind chill of -9 C in the evening, lowering to -15 C overnight.

Wednesday: Cloudy. Snow beginning in the afternoon, two to four centimetres expected. Wind east 20 km/h, speeding up to 40 km/h. High -1 C with a wind chill of -15 C in the morning, rising to -7 C in the afternoon.

Wednesday night: Snow or rain. Low -3 C.

Thursday: Cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of flurries. High -1 C.

Thursday night: Cloudy periods with a 30 per cent chance of flurries. Low -12 C.
