Two Winnipeggers are facing charges in connection to a shooting at an Osborne Village lounge last month.
Police say the lounge’s owner was charged with obstruction, and a 33-year-old Winnipeg man was charged with assault and aggravated assault.
The owner was released on an appearance notice, while the other man was detained in custody.
The arrests stem from an early morning shooting on Feb. 6.
Patrolling officers were flagged down in the 100 block of Osborne Street for a report of a gunshot.
Officers went to the closed, licensed business and found a 29-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers put a chest seal on the man before he was transported to hospital in unstable condition. He was later upgraded to stable.
Police say the suspect fled before they arrived.
The major crimes unit investigated and found a number of patrons were at the lounge after hours when members of two groups got into a verbal argument. It turned physical, police say, and escalated when one of the suspects pulled out a firearm and shot the victim in the upper body.
Officers say the 48-year-old man who owned the lounge, who was there at the time of the shooting, was arrested.
Investigators then identified a suspect and arrested him without incident on Feb. 11 in the area of Cheriton Avenue and Rothesay Street.
None of the charges have been tested in court.
