Two men have been charged after a vehicle stolen from Alberta was found in Winnipeg’s Fort Garry neighbourhood.
Around 10:19 p.m. Friday, Winnipeg police said they were alerted by the Camrose Police Service that a stolen 2025 Dodge Ram with Alberta licence plates was believed to be in Winnipeg. Using the vehicle’s GPS tracking, police were able to track the truck in the 1300 block of Pembina Highway.
Saturday afternoon, officers found the parked car and noticed it had been started using a command start. They waited before two suspects, a 30-year-old man and a 25-year-old man, approached the truck and tried to enter. Both men were arrested.
Police said they discovered one of the men had a stolen credit card, while the other had several outstanding warrants for offences committed between March 29, 2020 and March 31, 2021.
A 25-year-old Calgary man has been charged with possessing property obtained by crime over and under $5,000. A 30-year-old man from Winnipeg was also charged with possessing property obtained by crime over $5,000 and had 18 outstanding arrests warrants.
Both men remain in custody and the charges haven’t been tested in court.
