Around 1,000 square meters of grass caught on fire: WFPS

Three fires kept Winnipeg firefighters busy over Friday evening and early Saturday morning.

Firefighters were called to a grass fire near the 100 block of Paul Boulevard at 5:05 p.m. on Friday.

The fire covered about 1,000 square meters, and crews brought it under control at 5:34 p.m. using wildland firefighting equipment.

Dearborn Avenue house fire

At 5:05 p.m. on Friday, crews were also called to a house fire in the 200 block of Dearborn Avenue.

Firefighters began fighting the fire with a defensive attack because it was unsafe to enter the house, later switching to an offensive attack.

The fire was declared under control at 5:43 p.m.

Lock Street vacant house

At 2:51 a.m. on Saturday, a fire was reported in a vacant house in the 200 block of Lock Street.

Firefighters brought it under control in less than 30 minutes.

In all three fires, no injuries were reported and investigations are underway.
