A popular pedestrian bridge will be closed for one day Thursday.

The Assiniboine Park pedestrian bridge is closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday for an inspection.

Pedestrians need to find another route to cross while the inspection is underway.

The bridge, which connects the park to Portage Avenue, was originally built in 1931.

The City of Winnipeg told CTV News in November that regular inspections showed major maintenance is needed, but there are no issues that have been found that would require immediate closure of the bridge.
