Colleen Bready’s Forecast: A mild long weekend ahead for Manitoba

Conditions are mild and sunny across most of Manitoba and northwestern Ontario on the eve of the Louis Riel Day long weekend on Friday.

Almost all of Manitoba, as far north as Brochet, will see temperatures soar up to or surpass the freezing mark.

Fog was a factor in the southwest on Friday morning, including in Brandon. Conditions will improve in the region this afternoon.

Foggy conditions lasted until late Thursday night in Winnipeg, before lifting overnight. But with light winds, high humidity and clear enough skies, fog could redevelop across southern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario on Friday night.

Meanwhile, snow will fall Friday afternoon in northern Manitoba from Brochet to Tadoule Lake and Churchill. Other regions, including Flin Flon and The Pas, will see some sunshine.

Mild conditions will continue throughout the long weekend in Winnipeg, setting up a great start to Festival du Voyageur. It will be a cloudy day on Valentine’s Day on Saturday and again on Sunday, before sunshine returns on Louis Riel Day on Monday.
