Colleen Bready’s Forecast: Here comes the sun

Published:

Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for March 6, 2025.

The sun is shining on Winnipeg and southeastern Manitoba on Thursday afternoon.

In the southwest, clouds will take over. Dauphin and Swan River may even see some light snow.

Meanwhile, a relatively weak low over northern Manitoba continues to send snow into the northeast on Thursday.

Light snow is expected to end this afternoon in Thompson and Churchill but continue this evening in Gillam and Island Lake. Strong winds are also causing blowing snow in some areas.

Temperatures across the province will remain below freezing on Thursday, but not by much in the south. Winnipeg and Brandon are forecast to reach -3 C, right around normal daytime highs for this time of year.

There is a chance that a relatively narrow band of snow crossing the southwest this afternoon will reach Winnipeg and areas north, including Gimli, overnight. Even if it does show up, not much is expected.

Friday will be very similar in Winnipeg with sunshine and a forecast high of -4 C, leading into a beautiful weekend in the city.

Looks for a mix of sun and clouds on Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures are expected to rise to 3 C on Saturday before soaring up to 7 C on Sunday—a good 11 degrees above normal for early March.

By the time the weekend is over, you can be sure a lot more snow will have melted away.
