Colleen Bready’s forecast: Much of Manitoba still ensnared in extreme cold

Published:

Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for Feb. 11, 2025.

A bitter cold snap continues on Tuesday.

Environment and Climate Change Canada’s (ECCC) extreme cold warning is still in effect for southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg and Brandon. The warning has also been expanded east across northwestern Ontario.

Don’t expect much relief during the day before extreme cold returns overnight.

Forecast daytime highs on Tuesday range from -19 C to -21 C across much of Manitoba and northwestern Ontario with wind chill values that will feel even colder.

The trade-off is that most areas will see sunshine or a mix of sun and cloud under a dominant surface ridge of high pressure. That’s some cold comfort – pun intended.

Temperatures on Tuesday night will plummet to the upper -20s to mid-minus 30s, with some of the coldest overnight lows in the south. Dauphin is forecast to drop to -35 C overnight.

Factoring in moderate winds, wind chill values will feel in the -40s overnight in most regions, including Winnipeg.

We will continue to hit the meteorological repeat button for the next several days.

There is no relief from these cold conditions in Winnipeg into early next week, so if you partake in Valentine’s Day, plan to cuddle up.
