Colleen Bready’s Forecast: Much welcomed mild temperatures

Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for Feb. 24, 2025.

It’s safe to say the deep freeze of the last couple of weeks is now behind us in Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.

What’s more, the much welcomed mild temperatures over the past weekend will continue through this week.

The warmer weather does come with a catch – much less sunshine than under the bitterly cold arctic high pressure earlier in February.

On Monday, a cold front in central Manitoba may bring scattered showers or flurries in the province, including Winnipeg.

Brandon and surrounding regions will be a bright spot Monday with a mix of sun and cloud a mild highs above freezing. That only seems fair after the region experienced the most extreme cold last week, at times.

Winnipeg will remain cloudy, but mild.

In northern Manitoba, regions furthest north will see sunshine Monday afternoon, but temperatures will be the coldest in the province.

Further south, most areas will be cloudier with mild, minus single digit highs around Flin Flon and Island Lake. The Pas could even climb above the freezing mark.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said more precipitation is expected for the northern Prairies this week, adding 5-10 cm of snow accumulation is possible by Thursday morning in central Manitoba.

At this point, there is a low chance of on again, off again precipitation in Winnipeg from Wednesday night through Friday.
