As the song goes, it’s going to be a bright, bright sunshiny day across Winnipeg and across most of Manitoba on Friday.

Sunshine is abundant and winds are light Friday afternoon across southern regions, with daytime highs climbing into the mid to upper teens.

Winnipeg is forecast to reach a balmy 17 C.

Most northern regions will enjoy sunshine or a mix of sun and clouds Friday, with soaring double-digit high temperatures.

Flin Flon and The Pas are forecast to climb to 17 C this afternoon, while areas as far north as Lynn Lake and Gillam should see temperatures reach 12 C and 11 C respectively.

It will also be a lovely spring day in northwestern Ontario on Friday with sunshine or a mix of sun and cloud, with daytime highs in the mid-teens.

It’s in the most northern regions in Manitoba where conditions change dramatically, with light snow and freezing rain expected today and over the coming days.

Environment and Climate Change Canada said areas closest to Nunavut could see as much as 10-20 cm of snow tonight into Saturday.

The weather agency added areas further south, including Churchill and Tadoule Lake, will get lower snowfall accumulations but see a higher likelihood of rain or freezing rain mixing in.

A warm weekend awaits Winnipeg. Saturday will be sunny, while Sunday will turn cloudy.

Expect above-normal temperatures for late April, soaring to the upper teens both days.
