High-rise and multi-unit buildings: Winnipeg firefighters respond to 4 fires Saturday

Winnipeg firefighters responded to four fires Saturday.

At 9:45 a.m., crews were sent to a duplex in the 700 block of Pritchard Avenue.

They fought the fire and declared it under control about 20 minutes later. Everyone left the building before firefighters arrived.

Around 2 p.m., a fire in a house in the 600 block of Garfield Street North was reported. Crews fought it and brought it under control in about 20 minutes.

High-rise and multi-unit buildings

At 4:56 p.m., several fire crews were sent to a high-rise building in the 100 block of Young Street after a fire was reported.

Firefighters attacked the fire, contained most of the damage to one area of the building and declared it under control at 5:19 p.m.

At 6:56 p.m., crews were sent to a multi-unit residential building in the 300 block of Blake Street.

They brought the fire under control at 7:12 p.m.

The city’s emergency social services team was sent to the fires at Pritchard Avenue and Blake Street to provide temporary support to residents.

In all four fires, no injuries were reported and no damage estimates were available. They are all under investigation.

Since Friday evening, fire crews responded to seven fires as of Sunday morning.
