A man is dead after being found by police out in the cold in bushy terrain.
On Sunday, RCMP officers from Swan River, Russell, Roblin and Dauphin were called in to assist Kamsack, Sask. officers in finding a missing man.
The man was reportedly not dressed for the weather and believed to be in the Madge Lake area.
A remotely piloted aircraft system located the missing man in the bush 200-300 metres away from officers on the ground.
The officers found and searched the man. The Independent Investigation Unit said officers believed he may have had a weapon and placed him in handcuffs.
The man was carried out of the bush and into a police vehicle. That’s when officers noticed he no longer had a pulse and began CPR.
He was brought to a hospital in Swan River but later died.
The Independent Investigation Unit is now investigating. It asks those who may have witnessed the incident or may have video footage to contact them at 1-844-667-6060.
