Two toddlers have died after RCMP say they drowned in a lake near their home. On Aug. 12, around 1:45 p.m., Island Lake RCMP were called to Garden Hill Anisininew Nation because two boys had been brought to the nursing station. Police said it is believed the toddlers – one and two-years-old – left their home and went to a nearby lake. They were found by a family member and taken to the nursing station. Both children were pronounced dead. RCMP said foul play is not suspected. “This is devastating for the family and the entire community. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragic incident,” said Sgt. Chris Hipolito. RCMP continues to investigate.
