Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) said staff for Stony Mountain Institution’s medium-security area found large quantities of cannabis and THC concentrates inside packages on April 5.

The drugs have an estimated institutional value of $1,047,740.00.

“CSC is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone,” CSC said in a statement.

CSC said it is investigating the incident.

It said that includes using ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors.

CSC also said an anonymous phone line, 1‑866‑780‑3784, was created to share safety or drug trafficking tips within federal institutions.
