A 49-year-old Ontario man has been charged after he allegedly lured and sexually assaulted a teenage girl in Winnipeg.
According to police, the counter exploitation unit began investigating in March. They learned in December 2024 that a suspect began communicating with the victim using private messaging on a social media platform.
Police said the suspect earned the victim’s trust, and arranged to meet in person, eventually travelling to Winnipeg.
On April 11, police attended a home in the city and found both the suspect and victim inside. The suspect was arrested without incident.
Police allege the suspect sexually assaulted the victim in the home.
