Three people are facing numerous charges stemming from a drug trafficking investigation in the city’s Elmwood neighbourhood.

The Winnipeg Police Service said its Guns and Gangs Unit seized around $179,000 worth of illicit drugs and more than $10,000 in cash since the investigation started in January.

On the evening of March 6, police arrested a 38-year-old man during a traffic stop at Watt Street and Chalmers Avenue.

Police also executed a search warrant at home on Tweed Avenue that night and arrested a 40-year-old woman.

Police discovered a substantial quantity of drugs at the home including meth, cocaine, fentanyl, and counterfeit Percocet pills. They also found two guns, two tasers, a bulletproof vest and brass knuckles during the search. A “large amount of stolen property” and more than $10,000 in Canadian currency were also seized.

Police executed another search warrant on a storage locker at a commercial facility on Gordon Avenue and seized three more firearms and a large amount of ammunition.

The 38-year-old man and 40-year-old woman are both charged with several drug trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, and weapons offences.

A 54-year-old man is also facing drug and weapons charges after he was arrested at a home on Roberta Avenue.

All three were released on an undertaking.
