A 29-year-old man is facing more than a dozen charges after police say he was found with several weapons and bit an officer while being processed.
Police say they conducted a traffic stop just before 6 p.m. on Sunday in the 600 block of Manitoba Avenue. According to officers, the man tried running away, but he was arrested.
Police said officers found a large knife, baton, handgun and various ammunition in the 29-year-old’s possession. There were also several arrest warrants in his name at the time of the incident.
When police brought the suspect to police headquarters to be processed, the man allegedly bit an officer and tried to take their taser.
The officer didn’t require medical attention as a result of the attack.
The 29-year-old man from Winnipeg was charged with six firearm and weapon-related offences, as well as assaulting and disarming a peace officer.
The charges haven’t been tested in court.
