A 14-year-old male has been charged with second-degree murder following a fatal stabbing last week.
According to RCMP, the Manitoba First Nations Police Service was called to a reported stabbing at the Long Plain detachment. A 26-year-old man suffering from injuries was inside a vehicle that pulled up to the detachment requesting help. Officers provided medical assistance until EMS arrived.
The man was taken to hospital, where he died from his injuries.
RCMP said the investigation found the vehicle had stopped at a home in Long Plain First Nation to drop off another passenger. They allege a 14-year-old male exited the home and confronted the victim over stolen property while he was sitting in the vehicle, which ended with the victim being stabbed.
The teen was arrested later in the evening and charged with second-degree murder the following day. He remains in custody.
RCMP and the Manitoba First Nations Police Service continue to investigate.
