A Winnipeg grandmother who tried to buy a record with a special meaning for her family, has now collected it thanks to a local book shop.

Angela Torgerson, executive manager with McNally Robinson, confirmed the grandmother came into the store Wednesday to collect an exclusive copy of The Rolling Stones album, “Out Of Our Heads,” produced for Record Store Day.

Torgerson told CTV News Winnipeg on Tuesday that the woman was at the Grant Park store on Saturday for Record Store Day and a copy of the album couldn’t be found.

She told staff she was buying the record on behalf of her grandson so he could take it to his grandfather, a long-time customer of the store who is in palliative care.

A copy of the record was found after she had left and Torgerson posted about it on social media. CTV News Winnipeg aired a story looking for the grandmother.

Torgerson said on Wednesday that the grandmother was “very touched and it was a truly lovely moment for us all.”
