The NHL playoffs are just around the corner and excitement for the Winnipeg Jets is close to bubbling over. CTV's Michelle Gerwing reports.

Jets fans can start marking their calendars, as the schedule for the entire first round of the playoffs for Winnipeg has been released.

Game one between the Winnipeg Jets and St. Louis Blues will go on Saturday at 5 p.m., followed by game two on April 21 at 6:30 p.m.

The series will shift to St. Louis for games three and four on April 24 at 8:30 p.m. and April 27 at 12 p.m.

If games five through seven are needed, they are scheduled for April 30, May 2, and May 4. Times for those three games have not been set yet.

The Winnipeg Jets have home ice advantage for the series and would play at Canada Life Centre for games five and seven if they are required.

With the schedule being released, True North Sports and Entertainment had to change the upcoming Bachman Turner Overdrive concert.

It was originally scheduled for Saturday, but it has now been moved one day to Sunday.

True North said all BTO tickets for the Saturday are valid for the new date.

In a release, Randy Bachman wrote, “As a Winnipegger, born and raised, I am thrilled to see the Jets take their best-in-league record into the playoffs. I will be at Game 1 on Saturday, loudly cheering ‘Go Jets Go,’ and look forward to playing with BTO April 20 at Canada Life Centre.”

True North said it realizes this is short notice and appreciates the understanding of ticketholders.

Jets away-game watch party tickets up for grabs

Now that the schedule is out for games two, three and four of the Jets/Blues series, True North Sports and Entertainment has put tickets up for sale for away-game arena watch parties.

The $10 tickets for Games 3 and 4 of the Winnipeg Jets First Round Winnipeg Whiteout Watch Parties Powered by Scotia Perks went up on Ticketmaster Thursday.

Game three’s puck drop is Thursday, April 24 at 8:30 p.m. and Game four is Sunday April 27 at noon.

Fans at the watch parties will receive a free rally towel.

Proceeds from ticket sales go to the True North Youth Foundation.

Flyby planned for Game 1

The Royal Canadian Air Force is getting in on the playoff action. Two fighter jets will be flying over Canada Life Centre and the Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party on Saturday.

The ceremonial flypast will feature the RCAF’s CF-18 Hornet fighter jets from 4 Wing Cold Lake, Alta.

“The Royal Canadian Air Force is proud to share in national sporting events such as this, with flybys that allow us to demonstrate the capabilities of our personnel and aircraft to Canadians,” reads a news release from the Air Force.

The RCAF said the jets will fly no lower than 500 feet over the highest obstacle on their route on game day just past 5:00 p.m.

Flybys are weather-dependent.
