The city is looking at potentially starting a pilot project that would explore building narrow homes.
A motion at a city committee recommends the public service start a pilot project that would see single-family homes built on lots with widths as small as 20 feet and areas as small as 2,000 square feet.
Only three applications for this style of home would be approved for this project.
The homes would be built in new and emerging communities in green spaces only and they would require paved public back lanes.
As part of the recommendation, the pilot project would last for a year maximum or once the three projects have been completed.
When the three homes are completed, the public service would be required to present recommendations on if this should continue in the future.
The committee is speaking on the recommendation Wednesday.
